Teaching Languages and Cultures in the Post-method Era: Challenges and Perspectives

Mis à jour : 5 Déc 2017

The English Department and the Centre for Teacher Education and Professional Development of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Niš, are glad to invite you to the Third international conference Teaching Languages and Cultures in the Post-method Era: Challenges and Perspectives (TLC 2018), to be held on October 26-27 2018, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš. We hope to offer once again a multi-disciplinary forum that will bring scholars, researchers and practitioners together, to present and discuss latest research, policies and practices in the field of language and culture.

The status of humanities in today’s socio-economic context presents many challenges to teaching – from how to empower students, make them responsible and critical learners, over how to include digital literacy and humanities into teaching, to how to get the actual practice to reflect the values of humanistic education. Unfavourable conditions and questionable bureaucratic policies, which education is facing globally today, place both new obstacles and additional responsibilities on language and culture teachers today, challenging the aims and practices of teacher education and professional development, as well. We hope that this conference can be a place where we will question the existing practices and seek solutions.
