Mensen hebben al vaak geprobeerd om mensapen taal te leren. Erg ver kwamen ze daarbij niet. Dat komt mogelijk doordat het apenbrein niet beschikt over een specifieke boog met zenuwbanen die het unieke menselijke taalvermogen mogelijk maakt, zo wijzen nieuwe hersenscan-technieken uit.
